Prospective Members

Interested in joining?

SWPA is open to all majors and grade levels! With the wide range of events and the inclusive environment, anyone will flourish in SWPA. No experience is required to join.

We accept members at the beginning of every semester. Candidates must go through a formal interview process to be selected as a member. Through this process candidates are expected to showcase professional demeanor and express their passion and interest in joining SWPA.

Recruitment Process

Information Night

Info Night is held to kick off the recruitment process every semester! At Info Night candidates are able to learn more about SWPA, our mission, and will have the opportunity afterwards to meet our members and ask any questions informally.

Candidates will also sign up for Round 1 interviews at Info Night.

Round 1 Interviews

The first round of the recruitment process starts with a formal 10 minute interview between a candidate and two SWPA members.

Candidates invited back after this round will sign up for our social session the following evening.

Social Session

Our social session is the second day of our recruitment process and allows candidates to get to know us as people! Candidates will be put into groups and will meet many different members. This is a 25 minute round.

Candidates invited back will sign up for a final interview the following evening.

Final Round Interviews

The last round of interviews is a formal panel interview. Candidates will be interviewed by a panel of four SWPA members at once. Candidates are required to bring printed copies of their resume to this round.

Candidates will be notified with a decision following this round.

Tips

How to best prepare

Practice

Our formal interviews will ask mostly behavioral questions. Focus on practicing responses out loud using the S.T.A.R. method. (The social session will be more casual so the S.T.A.R. method will not be a priority!)

Confidence

SWPA members are not judging you if you are nervous! If you can speak confidently and answer our questions you will do great!

Dress the part

Purchase some business clothing. SWPA's interviews are formal and we expect candidates to come dressed professionally.
